[Ah, okay, he sees. Unlike Mizuki, who has a hard time reading others, Gnosis finds it fairly simple. This is mostly entirely because he works with who he works with; he's Karlan's CTO, yes, but he's been on numerous meetings with potential business partners. It takes one shared glance between him and Enciodes for them to communicate to each other, "this is a good deal, this is a bad deal, this person wants to swindle us, this person has ulterior motives in this partnership". Body language is easy. Intentions can be communicated through a brush of hands or even a quirk of the lips.
This is a difficult thing for Mizuki, which is fine. Not everyone has had twenty-something years of business dealings.]
I'm a particularly blunt person, Mizuki. Were I to find your company insufferable at all, I would tell you as much directly. I don't consider myself passive-aggressive like Doctor Kal'tsit can be sometimes, [oftentimes,] nor do I consider myself to be flighty or otherwise not adroit at speaking my mind. Rest assured, if there were need for you to "remove yourself", I would have let you know by this point.
…? I wouldn't consider Doctor Kal'tsit passive-aggressive… [ Doctor Kal'tsit is very nice to him, actually. Very patient (and a little invasive sometimes), but never passive-aggressive.
…
She doesn't seem to like the Doctor very much, though. Is that what he means? ]
Ah, if you're… sure. I don't really see you too much around the landship, so I… I don't even know the sorts of people you often hang out with. [ Aside from the SilverAshes, but that's a given. ] But if it's alright, I… I would like to get to know you a little better. [ BB said you had a hard time connecting with people. Me too. BB said you longed for companionship. Me too. BB said— ]
I just feel a little… alone here. It'd be nice to have someone to talk to about stuff if we're not gonna go home for a little while.
[Mizuki please if you're not Kal'tsit's little science experiment she gets extremely passive-aggressive this is just a fact. A Gnosis-biased fact but still.]
Getting home seems like it's going to be trouble. [He agrees, and he wonders if there's even a way to get back. Apparently their home is here, they were always supposed to be here, and their reincarnations are just that. Gnosis doesn't exactly enjoy the thought of his entire life being some cosmic lie.] But, setting that aside for now... I have time, so if there's something you'd like to discuss, I'm listening.
[ Hey now, reincarnations are perfectly valid and stuff. Just look at Legend of Zelda. In Mizuki's essay, he will-
There's a bit of an upset burbling in his head, mostly just the collective mind of We Many being upset that Mizuki apparently thinks he has "no one to talk to". We're here, you can talk to us. But Mizuki knows that they know full well that's not what that means. He appreciates it, truly, but if he doesn't have someone to talk to beyond Himself (sources needed), he might just expire on the spot. ]
Are you sure? I know I came in while you were resting. I'm sorry about that, by the way.
[ He fidgets in place. ]
I supposed I didn't come in here with an intent beyond asking you if we were... companions or something else, so I wouldn't upset if you preferred to be on your own.
Rest comes to me whenever my lack thereof catches up, I suppose, but I shouldn't sleep on the desk.
[He says this, but he will absolutely sleep on the desk more.]
As I've said, if I were upset, I'd let you know. I am not a man who beats around the bush, nor will I hesitate to tell someone they anger me in any way. Does that make you feel better?
[ Sheepishly, Mizuki nods, then shuffles in place for a moment. The handle of his umbrella is practically being worried against to death before he finally scuttles over to Gnosis' desk and then plops himself into his lap. Because this is what friends do. ]
[.........................okay. Sure. One day he'll be used to Mizuki needing constant physical contact. It's like being a kid in Kjerag again and having a two-year-old Ensia crawl into his lap... except they're adults and it's hot outside.]
[ He settles his head against Gnosis' shoulder. Based on what BB had told him, he's pretty sure it's something he would know how to answer? Is it a question Mizuki should be asking at all? Maybe not. It's always hard for him to discern that, though. ]
If you... [ How does he word this right? ] If you do the stuff people want you to do, or tell you to do, and not the stuff you think you should do, then... are those people still your friends, even if they don't really know "you"?
I think this problem is multifaceted. [Gnosis adjusts his glasses with a finger.] It would depend why you're doing the things you're being told to do. Assuming it's outside the context of a boss or superior like the Doctor, though...
It could be that those people don't know you, but are assuming that, because you do what they ask, that you're fine with what's happening. In that case, I'd make it clear that you want to do something else and try to establish that level of personal knowledge before going further. Now, if the people giving you those instructions fail to take your perspectives and wishes into account... then yes, I would say that they are not your friends, simply because they don't respect your individuality.
[ What if you're being told what to do because you never do the right thing? What if you don't have an "individuality" to respect? What if you constantly feel disconnect and seek to fix that? What if this perspective fucks with your perception of people because you don't know who's good or bad? What if your own perspectives and wishes are never yours? What if your own perspectives and wishes are inherently bad (or so you're told)?
I don't make friends very easily, [he starts, in that stiff way he normally does when he's trying to reject the emotional nature of man and all that... but eventually his shoulders sag, and he nods.] But, if you'd like to be friends with me... then yes, we're friends.

It's confusing. I'm not sure how to feel about it.

You are very kind, Mister Gnosis. Thank you.
