[.........................okay. Sure. One day he'll be used to Mizuki needing constant physical contact. It's like being a kid in Kjerag again and having a two-year-old Ensia crawl into his lap... except they're adults and it's hot outside.]
[ He settles his head against Gnosis' shoulder. Based on what BB had told him, he's pretty sure it's something he would know how to answer? Is it a question Mizuki should be asking at all? Maybe not. It's always hard for him to discern that, though. ]
If you... [ How does he word this right? ] If you do the stuff people want you to do, or tell you to do, and not the stuff you think you should do, then... are those people still your friends, even if they don't really know "you"?
I think this problem is multifaceted. [Gnosis adjusts his glasses with a finger.] It would depend why you're doing the things you're being told to do. Assuming it's outside the context of a boss or superior like the Doctor, though...
It could be that those people don't know you, but are assuming that, because you do what they ask, that you're fine with what's happening. In that case, I'd make it clear that you want to do something else and try to establish that level of personal knowledge before going further. Now, if the people giving you those instructions fail to take your perspectives and wishes into account... then yes, I would say that they are not your friends, simply because they don't respect your individuality.
[ What if you're being told what to do because you never do the right thing? What if you don't have an "individuality" to respect? What if you constantly feel disconnect and seek to fix that? What if this perspective fucks with your perception of people because you don't know who's good or bad? What if your own perspectives and wishes are never yours? What if your own perspectives and wishes are inherently bad (or so you're told)?
I don't make friends very easily, [he starts, in that stiff way he normally does when he's trying to reject the emotional nature of man and all that... but eventually his shoulders sag, and he nods.] But, if you'd like to be friends with me... then yes, we're friends.

Does that help?

He sighs. ] That's... a lot.
[ His thoughts, that is, not Gnosis'. ]
We're friends, right?

It's confusing. I'm not sure how to feel about it.
[ Beat. ]
You are very kind, Mister Gnosis. Thank you.
